The concept and purpose of debate in Islamic world is different than what it's in rest of the world. It's not about discussing, augmenting or defending ideas and facts, but to defend islam, it's scriptures & prophet by all and any means which include but not limited to personal insults, distractions, ad hominem attacks, shouting down opponents, even physical threats & use of violence
