The ironic thing is that people DID want Chrom... in Smash 4. When they added Robin and Lucina instead he became kind of unnecessary. That being said, he was an echo fighter so he wasn't "taking up a slot" as people seem to think.

Most of them are clones, and come from a series with more than its share of variety with fighting styles.

Bro you have no idea how tilted I was when Byleth came out and every was calling him a “generic anime swordfighter” when he has one of the most unique movesets in Smash’s FE reps

Being mad at the fire emblem sword fighters feels really silly when we have Three Links. Four if you make a Mii Sword Fighter with the Link clothes. I pointed that out and players got mad and started pointing out the differences between the three characters.
"Like how Marth, Lucina, and Roy who all have different play styles despite mostly sharing a move set? Alot like the three Links?"

Fire Emblem characters are all fun characters to play though. Honestly, though it does feel like they really pushed the franchise, I still enjoy the characters and think they’re pretty good additions. I just wish they saved Byleth for Pack 2 and then there wouldn’t have been nearly as much negativity towards them.

People were mad at Chrom and Lucina saying they "Stole someones spot" when in reality, as echo fighters they take drastically less time to develop. So yeah that arguement is incredibly stupid.

And in Chrom's case. There was ALOT of people wanting him back in the wii u days

I was actually one of the few that loved having Corrin and Byleth in Smash. It was interesting to see how they made the Fire Emblem characters more unique. Robin with the tomes, Corrin with the dragon powers, and Byleth using more then just a sword. And the sword was also a chain whip sword. Also wonder if people realize most video-game characters wield weapons. More accurately a sword. If it's not a sub weapon then their main weapon.

P.S. None of the characters in Smash were "wasted" slots.

I love Byleth as a Smash character, and honestly the fact that the character wields _every_ weapon type in the series (aside from magic) was something that was long overdue.

... But that reveal trailer was literally trash. Most Smash trailers have proper build-up to get the viewer excited and looking forward to who might be next. The Byleth trailer had no build-up and was too drawn-out.

Chrom gets a pass for two reasons

1.People wanted him in smash 4 and were mad that he was part of a final smash and not playable

2.Chrom is only an echo fighter so it’s not the choice between him or a popular request, it’s him or no Chrom at all

I love how Smash players hate Corrin for being a Fire Emblem character and Fire Emvblem fans hate Corrin for being Corrin.

I didn't like fire emblem before ultimate came out, but then I played some of the games. now byleth is one of my favorite dlc

I literally had to check and make sure that Nintendo didn’t get hacked when Byleth was announced, I thought, “There’s no way Nintendo would put another Fire Emblem character instead of someone we actually want.”

Bruh byleth is my favorite out of the dlc characters to play. He's easy, fun and kills early.
