That pink thingie is an orange/citrus peeler. I have one and I love it.

I think you can use the pink pick to remove those seeds that are stuck to the slices. Also, for safety and stability, I learned in French cooking school to place a moistened paper towel under your cutting board - and Voila - your board stays put.
