We took our Cottonwoods 3L GORE-TEX kit out to Solitude Mountain resort for some in-depth product testing and a feature overview. Check out Gearhead Kendall’s favorite features on our flagship jacket and bib pant combo. The Cottonwoods kit is ideal for resort riding, from lacing freeride features to scoring powder stashes and everything in between.

The waterproof 3L GORE-TEX laminate on the Cottonwoods kit makes it a great pick for resort skiing and snowboarding because it’s waterproof, breathable, and super durable. The non-insulated shell design gives us the freedom to layer underneath the jacket with our preference of fleeces or puffy jackets. The waterproof design makes the Cottonwoods great for powder skiing, since it will keep you warm and dry even during a storm.

Sick kit! I like it a lot, but don't like the design of the pockets. What's the purpose of box lines on the bottom?

Kendall/Backcountry thanks for this video. I'm jealous of your snow. I have this kit! I really like it BUT I am a noob and am worried about it being just a shell. What do you recommend wearing underneath? I've never had just a shell before. I will be doing northeast resort riding, I expect temps between 20-30* .. possibly with the occasional 10* or even lower. Understanding how to stay warm with this or knowing what kind of warmth it will provide normally will be a big help!

I would totally try Backcountry jackets and pants if they didn't have that big ugly logo so visible for the whole mountain to see. My question to them is why can't they take a page out of the branding guides of other well-established companies and use some subtlety when they design their apparels? Not too mention these other brands' logos are are much more well-designed than what Backcountry has going. Design is about balance.
