Audi R8 Generations DRAG RACE

We’ve got our hands on every generation of Audi R8, and they’re about to go head-to-head over the quarter-mile to see how this stupendous supercar has evolved over the years!

We’re starting with the Mk1 R8 V8 from 2007. It’s powered by a 4.2-litre naturally-aspirated V8 that can produce 414hp and 430Nm. This power is sent to all four wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox, and when new the starting price was just over £78,000.

Moving forward to the latest car, we have the R8 GT Mk2. It arrives packing a 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10, and this can put down 620hp and 565Nm. This power is sent to the rear wheels only via a 7-speed automatic gearbox, and as new the car costs a staggering £200,000!

In between the two, we’ve got all other generations of R8 - the GT Spyder Mk1, the LMX Mk1, the R8 RWS Mk2, and the R8 Spyder Performance Mk2!

The question is, will the newest car, the GT Mk2, snatch the win? Or will the lack of all-wheel drive prove decisive? There’s only one way to find out for sure… LET’S RACE!

Fact Checking Nerd here…. The reason the blue gen 1 did so well was that all R8 Plus and LMX models actually came with the S Tronic Dual Clutch units

Nothing beats the looks of the R8 OG, the generation 1❤❤❤❤. The width of that car always surprised you, that trademark door bodywork was classic.

That 07 R8 V8 is probably one of my favourite cars from the 2000s.
The best iteration of that beautiful 4.2 V8 too.

Yianni has an S-tronic, not an R-tronic. It's also a dual clutch, but in the first gen. It came with the 2012 facelift I believe.

Man that LMX is such an impressive car being almost 10 years old now. It was keeping up with the latest R8 GT which is really impressive.

I've gotten used to how modern cars sound, I've forgotten how glorious these older performance cars sound. Just eargasmic. Sweet days. First thing to do when you get a facelift Gen 2 R8 is removing the OPF and soft limiter.

The R8 lmx has an s-tronic (dual clutch) not an r-tronic

Edit: you can even tell from Gear shifts, the lmx shifts so Quick like the Rwd but the old R8 gt shifts quite slow
