Hello viewer. Here's your hint to NEVER ADD KIWI TO JELLO.
Kiwi has an enzyme that consumes gelatin's proteins so the gelatin never sets.

fresh kiwi and pineapple actually have enzymes that react with the jello and cause it not to set (hence why packages say not to add fresh kiwi or pineapple) but if you wanted to do this still with kiwi or pineapple, get it canned as the canning process actually kills off these enzymes

Saw the kiwi immediately knew what was going to happen(for anyone curious kiwi has an enzyme that prevents jello from setting its the same thing that makes your tongue tingly if you eat to much of it)

So I saw an episode of a cooking anime where the fact that jello doesn't set when you put raw kiwi in it was a plot point. The rival character boiled the kiwi and the jello jello-ed for her, so try that.

The enzymes in the kiwi will prevent the jello from solidifying. First you must denature the enzymes by cooking the kiwi (or some other way I don’t know)

Kiwis contain something called a "protease, " which unravels proteins! This caused your jello to not set up properly.

its a shame because this looks really good! it just needed a little more tweaking and a swap with the kiwi for another fruit bc of the enzymes

I would let the jello set on its own and then put the fruit in the middle on top.

This is why you also can’t put raw pineapple in jello! Though the canned stuff is fine (the acid prevents the jello from setting V.V)

it wont set because the kiwi like pineapple has enzymes that break down protein. huh I remembered that from Food and Nutrition class in high school.

Are usually leave Jell-O in the fridge for about a day or a whole night so it can set fully

I grimaced when she put the raw kiwi in the jello… Bc I watched Yumeiro Patisserie and learned that there’s a compound in Kiwi that interrupts gelatins from setting.

To have kiwi in jello you need to boil kiwi before. Same with ananas, mango, papaya, figs, ginger and guava

No fresh kiwi or pineapple in Jello. The enzymes won't let it set. I think canned can be okay for pineapple, though. Check beforehand if you want to do this. Or just use different fruits. :)

It's recommended on the jello boxes not to put kiwis into it because it won't set, at all.
