The actor who played Saladin played him brilliantly! The whole film was a masterpiece.

'Were you not once close to a great king to learn by his example!' Such a great line!

The city is worth nothing, but spiritually, it's worth everything

Materially, Jerusalem is nothing more than sand and rocks.

Objectively and spiritually, it is everything ❤️

I think this is the best line in the whole film. Very true and poignant.

Truly? Worth nothing.
In the minds of men? Worth everything.

That's what Saladin is saying.

Just to say, Salahuddin was a muslim, a warrior of his faith, but being an Orthodox Christian myself and having read the book about Salahuddin ibn Ayyub, I can with ease say that this man has shown much more respect to Orthodox Christians than our Catholic "brothers" that went Crusading! Respect for this man! Brilliant leader and strategist!

What made Balian such a great leader in this siege is that he was fighting for the most basic, humane thing - the people themselves. He didn't care about the politics of Jerusalem or religious egotism or racism, he only cared about getting the people out alive. Being a working class man shielded him from power and politics, made him immune to its corrupting effects, and in the end he just wanted nothing more to be a good man, which is what pretty much saved all their lives.

Nice little crescendo before "everything". The score in this movie is underrated.

“She should not have been attacked!” Khalid b. al-Walid was leading the forces, so he dispatched a man to him saying: “Tell Khalid not to kill women or laborers”. (Sunan Abi Dawud)

Therefore, even in the heat of battle against a hostile enemy, the only people who may be attacked are those who are actually participating in the fighting.

watching the movie, you just fall in love with the characters of balian, saladin and the king of jerusalem. ofcourse, i loved it when Balian said if and if saladin doesnt offer terms to spare the people, he said he would burn every religious monument to the ground. he would destroy everything in the city "that drive people mad". Saladin was truly struck in awe by his words. There is a deeper message in the film and its about Religion and humanity.

I totaly love Balians facial response:
Nothing: why did we fight for nothing.
Everything: Ahh then it was the Good Fight.
