People are so focused on comparing S.D with the Ally, and why the S.D is so much better, don't see that there is an entire market of people outside of the S.D regions that will jump on the Ally because the S.D is so much more expensive, when you factor in the absurd mark up prices from third party sellers, that the Ally will be heaven sent for those of us that want to get into the handheld gaming scene.

And it's a bonus that it's from a big company like Asus and not like the GPD or Ayaneo.

The battery life question is NOT OUT OF THE WAY. Its suspicious they wont let you say how long it lasts on certain presets in games

May 11th is the date of the launch event. It probably won't be in stock on that date. Pre-orders will probably go live on that date though.

You can set steam bpm as the windows shell to automatically boot windows into steam! But! If SteamOS is finally released I bet you Asus will put out a custom SteamOS image with their own customization

The device looks awesome, but all these publications only mention the advantages of having Windows on a handheld, but they don't mention any of the disadvantages compared to SteamOS. I hope it will have good SteamOs support in the future.

If has a good battery that won't deteriorate after 12 months of use and it can basically run every pc game without issues then it's going to be amazing.

$400 vs what I assume would be $700 the cheaper AMD version? I think the Steam Deck has nothing to worry about.

First
Also, this looks very cool! I'm hoping it is still somewhat affordable when it releases and am exited to see when it releases! I had thought of getting an Steam deck but never did since I preferred to just run normal windows 11.

The whole "Steam Deck verified" stuff is more about the games being optimised for a handheld device with trackpads and no keyboard. Not so much about how it runs on Linux, as Proton does a great job.

Yup, this is what I've been waiting for in a handheld. Deck-sized with Windows and without the OneX price.

All these clueless reporters calling Windows an advantage have no idea how important Suspend/Resume is for a gaming handheld.

These look cool. Idk price is my main qualm where handhelds are getting into laptop/gpu cost territory. I don't have a deck either. Not sure I want to spend that much for a portable console. I go through fads where I play them a lot then am back to pc gaming afterwards.

PCMag but only 1080p video quality? Tech companies all about tech ought to have 4k 60fps at this point.

I wonder how much Microsoft charges for Windows. We know Valve subsidized their system, and didn't have to pay for an OS. I have to think these will start closer to 1K+
