Cuddled on fringes of Neora Valley National Park, located on the Eastern Himalayas, on the tri-junction of Pangolakha Wild Life Sanctuary, Sikkim in North and Toorsa Strict Reserve, Bhutan in North East and Champamari Wildlife Sanctuary and Gorumara National Park towards south, Kolakham reveals a lavish and supreme view of nature. The unique location of Kolakham makes it the ideal base for exploring the less trodden destination like Lava, Rishop, Lolegaon in Kalimpong and Alitar, Mul Kharga in Sikkim.

Lava Jamgyong Kongtrul Monastery and Ngedon Chang Ling Retreat along with Rishyap are distinctly visible and Nathula is a distant view from the village. Number of mountain ranges creates numerous valleys which are mesmerizing. And never ending lush green of Neora Valley forest makes Kolakham is one of the most coveted places to visit in newly formed Kalimpong district. Seven Kilometer further from Upper Kolakham is famous Changey Waterfalls in Lower Kolakham which falls down around 400 Ft to reach its end point making itself one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Kalimpong hills.

Kolbongeyshwari Devi Dham (Cave Temple) also known as Shrideswari Cave is a hidden attraction which haven't been explored much. Kolakham originally known as Kolbong is derived from Kolbongeyshwari Devi Dham.

Sangphung Waterfall is another hidden attraction in Kobong aka Kolakham which can be viewed from some locations with assistance of a knowledgably local guide.
