Question. Are you using that soil tester correctly? The soil is supposed to be wet, as it's an "electronic" tester and (or at least moist). The idea is that the tester runs on electricity, with one pole at a set, pre-calculated voltage, and the other, the actual sampler. When you stick those prongs into the soil you are testing, there is a current generated and that current goes through the prong. Internally, calculations are made based on the hydrogen (+) content of the soil, and how it reacts to the electric charge. If the soil is dry, you will not get that current to travel from one pole to another accurately. The reading will be wrong.
