the ride accents are very important; u transfer to them the key of the samba, otherwise you are playing the introduction of Break on trhough from the Doors, i.e., a kind of a latin rock'n'roll; yet, your hi hat is perfect

This is the common wrong way of playing of partido alto. I learnt it the wrong way too the first time from Tommy Igoe's book. The real partido alto is this (A is accents and . is one sixteenth note pause)
