As a milwaukee guy- makita, flex, dewalt, and I'll even say ridgid are all great power tools. Just comes down to small differences and what you like more.

Makitas live forever. Been in construction since i could walk. Dad had his own company. Im here to tell you we used every brand of power tools but his old makita 8v outlasted ALL of them. Dropped from numerous roofs. Falls from ladders and scafolding etc he bought it in the 90's and we were still using it in the mid 2000's. Handled 4 inch wood screws on the original batteries. The only thing that broke was the trigger and it still worked. Now in my late 30's as a manual machinist im the only one rocking teal in my box but i know mine are going to last forever. BIFL

Been using Makita tools for over 25 yrs. I have some with the ole pod style batteries THAT STILL WORK along with the tools. Not always treated the best but they still work. The Makita might be a tick slower, but its about how long it will last over the long haul.

Makita is like the Swiss watch of power tools. Not necessarily the most powerful but it is the smoothest, most reliable and longest lasting of all brands. All these comparisons are irrelevant.

Nothing wrong with either brand, but Milwaukee has never disappointed me. Going on 10 or 11 years with the same impact driver and drill set.

They are still great impacts. The tenth of a second that is "saved" does not really matter, it all just BS.

I have a DTD 148 made in Japan.
I have had it for many years.
I use it to make iron roofs for containers, and the pigs don't die.
I would never buy Mikwaukee.

Can we get some impact wrench comparisons? The impact driver race has been beat to death...

The whole brand vs. brand thing is kind of stupid IMO and this is more a test of impact vs. impact, not battery tech vs. battery tech. The Makita 40V impact driver isn't as powerful as the Milwaukee, which everyone knows, but the trigger and features on the makita are amazing. However when it comes to drills, the TTC tested most of the high end drills available and the Makita 40v outperformed the Milwaukee Gen 4 and did it with the small 2.5ah battery. The XGT rear handle saw is also a thing of beauty, and i've owned just about every rear handle available. Yes, i'm a huge milwaukee fan, but i own high end tools from a bunch of different battery lines (Milwaukee 18V, Milwaukee 12V, Dewalt 20V, Dewalt 60V, Dewalt 12V, Makita 40V XGT, Makita 18V, FLEX 24V stacked lithium, EGO 56V, Metabo 18/36V Multivolt, Kobalt 24V, Ryobi 18V and SKIL 20V). Honestly all the top brands make some great tools and all the top brands have some not so great tools because none of them are perfect. I like the ability to choose what brand/model i want for each individual tool. For example, i often go with Milwaukee over DeWalt but when picking out a cut-off tool i chose the DeWalt because it's a lot more powerful and pairs great with the small powerstack battery. The bottom line is, can't we all just get along? lol

As someone that owned every Milwaukee tool and ended up with that 40v drill impact combo I think I much prefer the makita. The Milwaukee extra might knock you off a ladder the drill catches a screw with a hole saw while the makita drill will not allow it to rotate your wrist. And the makita batteries charge faster, last longer, and the tools are just smoother and more precise.

I use ridged. Really good warranty. Everyone I worked with had Dewalt and I dared to be different and liked the color. We all finished our jobs at the same time. I even worked on projects I had no experience in and still had professional results. Only thing I will say is their tool and accessories is somewhat limited compared to Dewalt, Milwaukee etc

I like both brands. Have some of both. But my main is The green wall. Bleed green forever because that’s how long they last

How about long term use? I mean, which one overheats faster etc.

Power isn't everything. There's a reason why you see more Makita in finish carpentry. You can't even compare build quality, features, and trigger.
