I can't imagine how cramped the turret is with the 100mm cannon.

The project was not only abandoned due to the end of the war. The T-34-100 had its turret come loose when firing, literally. The turret washer could not withstand the force of the recoil, so the turret simply popped out of place.

About the T-34-57, iirc, they never entered combat after the battle of (either) Moscow or Stalingrad.

They tried to restart the program but just dropped it.

They did manage to put a 100mm on a T-34 though, it just didn’t came with a turret and was called the SU-100

It also doesn’t help their powder for the ap ammo on the 85 and 57 had a tendency to explode if the barrel was still hot after firing. No ap meant needing a larger gun to try and achieve greater penetration.

Also the gun had a bit of a nasty habit of ripping the turret ring out of the hull and cracking the turret in recoil

Jagdtigers machinegun port is no where near as impenetrable as you think you can kill it through the macho gun port with an American 76 and higher

Fun fact: its gun LB-1 was named after Lavrentiy Beria, Stalin’s “Our own Himmler”. After this guys was put down by the rest of the party’s leadership, the gun was also cancelled.
