There are 3 dots (more icon) next to app search bar, if you click it, you also get settings and from there you can turn of 'Add media page to home screen'.

This method did not work for me did not have exact options as shown on yours. I did find "Swipe Access" at bottom of screen, click selected "show nothing" rather than google feed. No more opinion page.

Oh, I was so excited but it didn't work. I turned off the "Add media page to Home screen" but no change. OH! I wasn't trying to get it off the home screen, but to have it quit popping up news when I open Chrome. So maybe that's not possible.

Thanks. Went to Settings, Home Screen, Add media page to home screen, turned off "google discover". It was intrusive and kept popping up all the time with a lot of random c***.
