Ally McCoist shares with Ben Shephard and Chris Kamara on Goals on Sunday, the brilliant prank Gazza played on Gordon Durie while the trio were at Rangers.

It involves a car, two trout, and a 'Sherwood Forest' of air fresheners! To quote Gascoigne on the matter: "The chairman wasn't too chuffed, though. The car was a sponsored one, provided by the club. I think it had to be scrapped."

Gazza is the kinda guy you would love to have in your workplace. Just constant banter and laughs.
Mccoist is a great story teller too.

I knew Gazza when I was a young man between the ages of 14 and 22 he was a quiet lad never kicked around on the streets to much was always at football training . Back then nobody called him Gazza that was an invention of the press years later when he started to come to their attention in the very early part of his career. He was known as Gasa by eveyone and called Gasa by everyone ..I remember his first "free car " sponsored by some dealership when he was in the reserve team for Newcastle it was a shitty brown coloured Renault 5, he was dead chuffed pulled over at a junction when he saw me behind him in my equally shitty ford fiesta and jumped out and shouted " like the car ?, I just got it " I said I didnt know you had passed your test and he replied "I haven't laughed that naughty laugh of his jumped in and drove off... he always was a genuine lad and character . I can't claim to be mates with him or nothing he was a few years younger than me and we lived on the same estate in Dunston way back when ...but I wish him peace and happiness, he deserves a happy life and good health because he is one of the good people out there in the world (football aside ) I really hopes he beats his demons and alcohol and lives a happy life without the pain that is so well documented by the press...good luck Gasa and best wishes from an aquaintance of 40+ years ago ....

I'm a Celtic man and thought that was hilarious. McCoist struggled as a manager. Don't actually mind him as a guy, he was hilarious on Question of Sport back in the day

Listening to this story just reminds me of listening to Billy Connolly telling a story. Not just the accent, It's the mannerisms and everything. Legend

as a class a drug addict of some 24 years I can identify with gazza. I feel so sorry for the man. a football genius who could have been the best footballer on the planet if it wasn't for his addictions. people who've never been there will never understand what life can be like for us. we are looked down upon by society, a society that is so incredibly ignorant to addiction . walk a day in mine and gazzas shoes and then tell me were 'bad' people. we're just the same as you but suffer unfortunately from a serious, chronic and terminal illness. gazza, I for one, salute you!!

So lucky to say I was a young kid when Gazza was playing. He made me understand there is a fun side to all the seriousness in the modern game

Matt LeTissier and Paul - now that would be the best English combination ever. Matt was too principled to join the madness. A great man and great player.
