The first speech just makes so much sense. How irrational is it to look for the perfect jumping off point to make changes in your life? Then when you hit obstacles you have no tools to deal with them because the only way your were able to start that change was from the perfect place. Start changing when you decide you want to make a change, that’s not only the fastest way, but the optimal way.
