George Floyd protests: Thousands rally in London against racism, police violence

Thousands of people chanting "no justice, no peace, no racist police" and "black lives matter" gathered in central London, UK on Wednesday to protest against racism after the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

Many of the protesters wore face masks and were dressed in red. Some waved banners with slogans such as: "The UK is not innocent: less racist is still racist", "Racism is a global issue" and "If you aren't angry you aren't paying attention."

George Floyd's death in police custody has unleashed simmering rage over perceived racial bias in the U.S. criminal justice system and raised questions about racism across the world.

The problem is educating the police more on the way to deal with criminals.they should handcuff offenders as soon as they arrest them as then there is no need to restrain or stand on them as the criminal is restricted into what he can do therefore these situations wont occur as the policeman or woman will expect serious consequences. Every incident should be recorded as video evidence is crucial in court these days.if the officers fail to record these incidents they should lose there jobs immediately. Its quite simple really .I dont understand why something so simple cant be achieved. The whole racism thing I dont quite understand.what happened to george floyd could have happened to any one .black, white, chinese etc.

I'm so sick of hearing from people that this is about racism and racism only. It's not. I'm offended by that. Why, you ask? Because I am white and I have experienced the exact same kind of brutality...and nobody seems to care. Probably because I'm white. But you know what else I am? Poor.

This isn't just about racism. It's about classism too. Yea, I made a word up...so what? It's the only word that legitimately describes the major problem we're facing right now. Go ahead and research into this. See how many of the white people in jails and prisons are poor. See the difference in conviction rates for rich whites vs poor whites.

This isn't just about racism. This is about a system that has condemned anyone who doesn't toe the line and meet the expectations of an uncompassionate society, no matter the color of their skin.

This isn't about one issue. It's about multiple systemic failures that has created generations of illegal and immoral incarcerations due to cultural bias and unjustifiable prejudice of more than just skin color. If you don't think that's true...then do the research and see for yourself.

Just an idea but how about the people create a list of changes they want from there government and send it to the president or prime Minister for they can see the changes we want. Protesting for what you think is right is Great but the governments not really gotta care until there bank accounts go down just my thoughts
