Easy DIY one of a kind beer tap handles.

So I came across some old skateboard decks at an auction. Well used and worn. Most people do not know that the decks are laminated wood. And that the laminants are usually colored various ways. Making them perfect for cutting down and repurposing or upcycling. I also homebrew small batches of beer and have a few friends who also do it. We have kegerators with taps. So I decided to make these gorgeous handles for our taps. Pretty simple. Cut the boards down to pieces that are flat. Since the edges and tongues are usually bent up. I peeled off the grip tape and then ran them through my planer. If you don’t have a planer you can sand them with heavy grit paper about 60 and then smooth grit like a 120. After the planer made them smooth and removed the surface wear. I cut them down to around 1” wide again for the taps. Then I had some other scraps of African exotic woods like Bubinga, Mahogany & Padauk. I cut the down to about the same size. No need to be exact as once glued up and dry. I ran them through my planer again to flatten them out smooth. Then mixed up boiled linseed oil with polyurethane and rubbed it in heavily. Let stand for ten minutes and wipe off excess oil on the surface. Then let cure for 24 hours and drill to add the tap handle threaded inserts on the bottom
