1. LEEDS certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) most well known and widely recognized. Focus on energy and water efficiency, indoor quality, product selection)
2. Living Building Challenge certification (most stringent and holistic approach, covers regenerative design, more than energy & water efficiency, it also covers social & cultural impact, aesthetics, land use)
3. Passive House Institute certification for highly focus energy efficient buildings. Least amount of energy for heating/cooling, insulation, air tight construction, windows.
4. WELL Building Institute certification, focus on health and wellness of people who will be occupying the building, air quality, lighting, acoustic comfort.
Factors in choosing certification: budget, location, what are your priorities in Building focus and how you work and who you are working with.
