Aboard the International Space Station, NASA Expedition 66 Flight Engineer Mark Vande Hei answered social media questions on March 10 and reflected on his record-breaking spaceflight. When Vande Hei returns to Earth on March 30 he will have spent a total of 355 days in space, the longest single spaceflight by an American astronaut. Vande Hei is living and working aboard the microgravity laboratory to advance scientific knowledge and demonstrate new technologies for future human and robotic exploration missions as part of NASA’s Moon and Mars exploration approach, including lunar missions through NASA’s Artemis program.

Great guy, great answers - completely destroyed by the distracting background noise. THERE'S NO NEED FOR IT! It's disrespectful to the astronauts, and makes it impossible to focus on what he's saying.

Update, Col. Vande Hei made it back and, apart from his family, he just wants to be outside. Rain or shine, just finally back on Earth, terra firma 💙🖖

Good interview. Could do without the cheesy inspirational music in the background NASA.

I've got a question for Mark, why do you need a harness inside the space station Mark?

It is insane that we're asking this man to come down in a Russian craft even after a Russian space administrator threatened to leave him in orbit. Will they see him as a captive pawn––like the three other Americans they're currently holding under false pretexts? We should wait to send a SpaceX Dragon capsule to retrieve him. At the same time, we should explore plans to attach a SpaceX capsule semi-permanently to the ISS to provide attitude control if a more permanent solution cannot be developed for the last years of the ISS. It is a shame that the current Russian leadership is threatening a mutual aid collaboration that has lasted for decades, by suggesting that they'd shut off ISS attitude controls, but we need to deal with the situation as it is, not as we'd hope it to be.
