It's funny to think that Iron Giant was crushed by Disney's Tarzan, yet here we are 24 years later recognizing it as one of the greatest animated films ever. It's the only animated film that my kids loved back then that I'll still revisit today, and will still be emotionally charged by it.

there cannot be a better depiction of the disney franchise than this. LOL

It’s hilarious that Cinderella is the only one that they remade well. They only did it as an update. Now it’s a trend.

Cinderella still remains as a good live action because it didn't just rely on the narrative of the original story itself but it did add some things that could've been in the original. It's special in its own way.

I miss when Disney focused into making more original and creative animated and live-action stories. Doesn’t matter how much they try, the animated versions will always be better than the live-action remakes.

Also, The Iron Giant is a masterpiece.

I'm pretty sure Cinderella was the first live action Disney remake, which is why it was good. After that, Disney pulled an Illumination and thought "Hey, we don't actually have to try in order to make money!"

My first thought clicking on this video: "The Iron Giant was Disney?"

No, it's just a very good template for explaining this point.

Edit: Ten thousand likes? I’m humbled, thank you so much.

I love seeing people make memes with the Iron Giant. It's a masterpiece, and it needs more recognition

Disney sticks to 2 extremes when it comes to quality:
1 - well-written stories, animated or live action
2 - “Somehow, Palpatine returned”

Edit: holy cow 15k likes it the most I've ever gotten

To be honest Cinderella is literally the only good live action Disney, it respects the source material AND the Disney classic.
Moreover it is the only disney live action where the "villains are not pure evil but misunderstood" works, Tremaine is shown neglected by her husband but at the same time she never tells him about her feelings and releases her anger and hatred on Cinderella because she sees her the ex-wife of her husband and she sees in Cinderella all those qualities she doesn't possess like compassion.
Truly a very good movie

Edit: almost 20000 likes? Never seen something like this, thanks you all fellas!
Addendum: No Maleficent isn't a good movie, nor Jungle Book or Alice in Wonderland, all Disney remakes from Alice in Wonderland to Peter Pan (i've seen them all) except Cinderella are hideous: some of them are worse (Pinocchio and Mulan) others are just soulless (Lion King and Lady and the Tramp).
Addendum's addendum: over 20000 likes? Great Scott thank you all ladies and gentlemen, i hope you all are enjoying summer in the best way possible

That movie needs to make a comeback, someday. Even though it doesn't really need a sequel, the original is already perfect. But it would be nice to learn the origins of the giant before he reached earth, and what happened after he rebuilt himself after landing in iceland

Alice in Wonderland is likely where the remake fever started, but obviously that’s really forgivable because Alice is a story you can have a lot of interpretations

As for Maleficent, I’m a lot more fond of it than most, but at the same time I do agree that making her good wasn’t the best move, or at the very least they should’ve gone with the whole “she’s neither hero nor villain” aspect more, because they kept saying that without having her do anything other than her initial curse that could really be called bad

All that said, I like the flashback scenes of the film (though I kind of wish she wasn’t actually named Maleficent) I especially love the visuals, and Angelina Jolie as the titular character was just perfect casting ^^

I have no idea how this video slipped under my nose but the iron Giant content is something I'm always on the pulse with😂
Im SO glad this film is getting the recognition it DESERVES after all this time!! I keep seeing more and more content and more people discovering this film, and tbh its about time people have.
Classic movie, excellent animation, the whole feature is a treasure on its own!

In a beautiful, melodramatic sense, this was the Giant becoming self-actualized and creating Art. Creating something that is created for next to no evolutionary benefit but for some transcendental reason.

I love how we all collectively agree that Disney’s live actions are garbage, And yet Disney keeps pumping them out.

Edit: Sorry I kinda forgot about a few that are pretty good. (Cinderella, Alice, Maleficient, and a few that I can't remember at the top of my head) But in my own opinion, any live action by Disney made after 2016 is not that good, or just straight up bad.

The live action Cinderella is the only movie they got right, where they captured the essence of the original despite making some changes to it and removing the songs. That scene when Cinderella got her dress and when she walked down the staircase, I found myself smiling just watching it. The only live action that made me smile like that was in Beauty and the Beast, when they had their first dance. But this movie was only from 2015! It wasn't that long ago. Yet Disney changed so much then, released so many live action that failed to captured what made their original counter-part great.

The Iron Giant is probably the most underrated animated movie of all time. Brad Bird directed it, yes THAT Brad Bird who directed the Incredibles and voiced Edna Mode. My favorite part will always be the writing. It's witty, emotional, and no longer or complicated than it needs to be. The animation has also aged very well, far better than the Disney animation at the time. Additionally, I love the October Sky reference in the train scene, also a great movie.

So fitting to see this after having watched a video about the making of The Iron Giant.

They had half the time given to Disney animators and one-third of the budget.

2.5 years and a pocket-change fund produced one of the most brilliant movies ever, regardless of animation vs live-action. What an icon.

thank you for putting spotlight to this, cinderella is one of the best live actions ive seen from disney and even if the modern ones dont live up to the standard of the animations they try to represent, that one is absolutely Not Bad
