Xerath Support - Breaking The Meta (League of Legends Gameplay Commentary)

Xerath is typically a mid laner but does have some support viability. His passive will quickly refill mana, strong pokes, a slow, a stun, and a kill secure ultimate. He is squishy and immobile, but can make for a great kill lane. The strategies in this video work much better in bronze and silver elo than anything else.

The problem with Xerath support is, that you have to kill some of your adcs minions. You also have only one ability, that can be used for supporting. Thats like playing Mundo support or Udyr or Twisted Fate. They have poke, they have cc but it's not as good as for exemple Karmas poke, Namis cc or Sorakas heals.
And also: I hate supports who think they are a solo laner. You don't have a golditem, you take the cs and you kill enemies. I don't know if you understand what a support is supposed to do. I think you sad once, you were a main support but if you play like this all the time, I'm sure your teammates don't like you.
A support is there to SUPPORT the squishiest teammember, the adc. You place wards around dragon, you poke enemies to bully them out of the lane so your carry can farm and gets fed and you help your carry to kill enemies. You are basicly the babysitter of your adc and later for your whole team. You don't have to get fed and you don't have to make plays as long as you support your team and help them win. Thats how I play supports and if you have a different opinion, I'm interested to hear it.

Most supports offer 2 or more cc's or 1 cc and a heal/shield. By saying xerath is a good support is kinda a lie because you offer minimal peelage for your adc. It's like saying jinx is a good support because she has a slow and a snare.

Hey drift nice vid! I love seeing you upload league videos, not only as some variety to your channel, but because it would be awesome if league had a commentator with your style. I have heard you say league distracts you from the first person shooter side of things, but I think it would be cool if an in depth like series was set up for league. This will probably sound more assholish than I intend it to be,
but from what I have seen (and am now seeing) is that at your level of skill the Meta should be a go-to thing for you. That does not mean that you have to follow it, it just does mean that you should not be too quick about giving advice.

Hey Drift just a tip: When you are warded at dragon you don't need to ward river's bush because you are already covering a hallway and by the time you see the jungler there you are dead anyways. It's better to ward the tribush and lane.

Am I the only person who respects Drift0r's game selections. I looked all through the comments and all I saw was shit like 'Play DOTA' or 'Stick to COD', there were alot meaner ones in the comments but I wont say them, I just think that if Drift0r plays a game, you should either watch it or dont watch it, it is that simple. Don't make him feel bad about showing you guys a game he loves. Come on, I thought that Drift0rs sub community was better than that.

Hey just a little tip: for you concerning support champions or tanky champions with a magic damage output which you want to increase: Build magic penetration (sorc. shoes and haunting guise). This allows the base values of your abilities to hit hard, and seeing as how you won't get that much ap, this is the most damage you can get.

Definitely not the worst support option. I have to be honest though; you can play almost anyone support in bronze and silver and do well. I would run spellthiefs instead of Doran's and build pretty much the same thing after that (athene's, sorc boots), then go void staff to save gold. Completing frost queens claim with sorcery and 5% cdr from runes gives you 40% cdr for max poke when sieging. Good luck sir keep up the vids!
