Put the line on the outside face. Lift the block to the line. Not over it.

When you put on your back head joint ...give a little pinch to the inside. You can leave your trowel on the other side of the wall when you joint because it'll be even more full. I got choked when someone told me this because I figured I had a full enough joint...its a game changer.
