Would have never thought of using a coffee bean as a fly material. Thinking out of the box to put something into your fly box.

Love this and just tried tying a few. The only extra thing I’ve added is peacock herl, trimmed
flat on the top, to give an impression of the beetle’s under body. Can’t wait to give it a try 👍

Genius!
After straining my eyes trying to watch a slowly sinking foam beetle at Pennine a few days ago…this is perfect!

Not sure the trout at Pennine need caffeine though 😂😂

Tied a few, tried them they all sunk. Tied exactly as you done. Think the resin is too heavy.

I’ve heard of using a coffee bean but never actually tie one as a fly. Thank you.

Now I’m wondering if there is a breakfast cereal fly to go with my morning coffee fly.

How does it stand up when a fish takes it surely the bean gets ripped off?

Hmm where is the line where a fly tying material is deemed to be bait?

Mick. So I don’t have to go hunting around, where do you buy your coffee beans from? Are they Java?
