During the Second World War, there were a huge numbers of executions carried out by the Einsatzgruppe. These were a number of executioners who served inside of the SS, following up the advances of the German Army. They slaughtered hundreds of thousands of people en mass inside of occupied lands such as the Soviet Union. But there were a number of men who commanded the Einsatzgruppe and some of these at the end of World War 2 were executed.

Have you ever heared of this one - Heinrich Hannibal ? Check him on wikipedia. He was one of those (99, 9%) that were never punished :"Hannibal was investigated in 1960s West Germany for the crimes committed by units under his command in the occupied Soviet Union. The investigation did not result in a criminal conviction. He died peacefully on 9 May 1971 in Hamburg."

It is amazing that it took six years after WW2 to meet their just fates.

I have a Sommergefechtsbluse Modell M-35 for an SD Unterscharführer that did time with Einsatzgruppe - A. During the fighting withdrawal to Warsaw, he was wounded by a strafing airplane and evac'd to Prague, then to Frankfurt where he was born. His injuries had him labeled " Front unfähig" and he was on light/ limited duty as Germany collapsed then surrendered. He went to his childhood home, hid his Uniform and Soldbuch, and assumed the identity of a Senior Sgt. That died in the Frankfurter Hauptlazarette. He went to work for US Forces and 5th Corp in Frankfurt where he was a motor pool mechanic for 37 years. He gave me his uniform a year before he died. With a large glass of Schnapps, he would describe Einsatzgruppen " Sonderaktionen" that would make the hair on your neck stand up. One of the rarest uniforms in my extensive WW2 German Militaria collection.

Nobody talks about the guys who helped train the SS, Emil Augsberg and Franz Alfred Six, becoming the driving force behind the creation of the Green Berets.

This thing could have been less than half as long, if they didn’t repeat so much. Watching the same photos and dialogue 4-5 times is unnecessary.

Thank you for this video and all the work that's gone into it. Important to remember history so we don't repeat it. Can you please add a link to the records of those trials. I would like to read the testimonies there.

Himmler disliked Ellendorf because he "had no sense of humor." Funny guy, that Himmler...well-known as 'the life of the [Nazi] party, ' everyone else thought Himmler's impressions of Mussolini and Goering to be hilarious.

...These Guys Were Pretty unlucky not to get Pierrepont or Someone as scientific as Him!, Chances Were if They ended up With John Woods or the HKBД They most likely Strangled to Death, anywhere from 4-20 minutes, and that Chair on the back of a flat bed is a good example!!!...

No remorse. No kidding I saw that look on the prisoners face when getting executed on the gallows. It was literally the face of no remorse and the face of a true sicko

Remember, only five leaders of the einsatzgruppen have been executed, all others were free between 1951 and 1955. Fun fact isn't it?

How can you give men like these "spiritual guidance" prior to death? They didn't even give their victims dignity. Religion is madness.

Einsatzgruppen, plural. The Heer was the German army, not the Wehrmacht. The Wehrmacht was the armed forces
