As a left handed person, I bought my first pistol about a month ago, I ended up getting a canik mete sf, the price was on point with what my budget was, and the slide lock is on both sides and I could very easily swap the bag release to work with my thumb, so far after almost 1k rounds of cheap ass 115 grain ammo it has not jammed yet! Get happy with my canik

Being left handed myself and constantly at a disadvantage because it’s a right handed world especially with firearms I appreciate these tips. I did already know them, but I appreciate you putting them out there. I served 10 years active duty army infantry and 3 deployments in Iraq. We were not allowed to do modifications to our M4’s so I had to learn how to be just as efficient and fast as all the righties. We used to have magazines change drills when we didn’t have much to do, and to my surprise I did get as fast as everyone else and in some cases faster than some, and I had to do all kinds of crazy things to drop the mag, insert a fresh one, send the bolt home and present the weapon again.

I wanted to figure this out on my own to find the most natural way for me, so i practiced a few different methods before seeing how others did it. I used all these methods plus a few extra. Great video for PPL who might not have an idea of how to manipulate as lefty. The biggest thing i can say is don't be discouraged as a lefty. We've all grown up using tools not built for us you can do it repetition is the key

I'm not left handed but I use my support thumb to engage the slide lock or I use my thumb and index finder to engage slide serrations in the front .
90% of the time I use support thumb to hit the slide lock. Doing this method works on pretty much any modern pistols. I chose to do this method because of 1911s and 2011s . My firing hand cannot reach the slide stop but my support thumb can ..

I’m predominately left handed but because of my cross eye dominance I shoot right handed. So both are very comfortable for me. When I shoot lefty I have to draw and come up at an angle so my right right lines up with the sights. It works well for me.
