What you are doing there is a partial seam. Just like you stated it is not difficult at all.

Please post a link for the lovely fabric. I hesitate to Google for it because that reduces the seller's income.

Really cute - QQ, do you mean to sew on both sides of the line on the petal? Either implies a choice, but it looks like your doing it on both sides :) . I'm a newbie an I want to try this block for my sisters amd want to get it right :)
