I love periphery so much!! They got me into listening to metal a couple years ago with my father. I’ve migrated to opeth, tesseract, and a couple other bands but periphery will always hold a special place in my heart <3. So happy they’re getting some recognition

Ride the Lightning, and specifically the track For Whom The Bell Tolls at 0:57 is the earliest use of the Djent sound I can think of. And if we trace Metallicas influences back we can confirm that Ennio Morricone is the godfather of djent.

I never really even thought of it but yeah Rush definitely had some riffs that could be considered djent, especially that riff in the beginning of “Cygnus X-1 - Book I - The Voyage”
