Today we're going to take a look at one of my favourite ranges from Games Workshop, which is the freaky boys themselves, the Genestealer Cults. So many good models, some of the BEST vehicles... What's not to love?

I browse forgeworld like people browse real estate websites looking at houses they can never afford:(

As someone who doesn’t know terribly much about the 40k universe, the Gene Stealers look like what I’d expect a 40k doomsday cult to look like.
Also the Brood Lord’s pose looks like the insignia; I’d imagine that’s why the tail curls forward that way. I actually ended up liking it a lot more when I noticed that.

The GS cult range is one of my favorite along with the AdMech one. The conversion potential is thru the roof. And similarly to the necromunda stuff i just love the snap shot civilian life and gear. I just hope that as the range expands that they keep to the industrial/mining/consruction stylings

Oh boy, I can’t wait for him to do the ork range.

Absolutely no models will stick out like a sore thumb, none at all.

As a kid in the 00s I wanted them to bring back Genestealer Cults so badly to go with my Nids. They brought them back during my hiatus from the hobby and they went beyond my expectations. My Cult is now the size of my Hive Fleet despite having collected the Cult for only two years as opposed to the ten years I spent building my Hive Fleet.

I love the Sanctus’ little helper, and to me he makes perfect sense as a sniper generally works in tandem with a spotter. Plus as you said, he’s very fun 😂

Yo, you could use the shield on the goliath rockgrinder as a shield on a chaos knight. Given your taste in bat shit crazy knight conversions, I figured I'd make the suggestion.

I’m intending to get a Goliath for my Orks as a Trukk since I’m not too keen on the Trukk.

I suspect Marine bikes were largely based on the old design for the Judge Dredd Lawmasters.

I'm literally using the neophyte hybrids for conversion to space pirates as we speak. *Fantastic* minis. Their armor was what sold me on using them.

I love the ribbed armour plates. Definitely human, but distinctly Tyranid influenced.

Just get the Goliath shield from a bits site!

Loving these range reviews, new to the hobby (Sadly cant get any models due to the lockdown but certainly going to!) and these really help to inform me what is good and what kind of armies i could make. Knowing nothing about quality and whats considered good its really helpful to have these so thanks a lot!

I think the reason Genestealers look so good is because they're almost an intentional homage to the old, dark-80s sci-fi of earlier editions.

I like the broodlord tail because it plays up the hr gieger alien inspiration

the patriarch is in the same shape as the iconography (banners, dangly trinkets etc) so while yeah it looks a bit odd thematically i love it, alternatively you could always just pick up a Broodlord, they're the same thing

I've had an idea since 2017, when, in the grip of some kind of persistent fever dream, I produced over 15k words of fanfic over a week and a half under the concept 'what if a genestealer patriarch was severed from the hive mind?' Following that concept, an army developed, distinct from genestealers proper but with many common themes. I called them 'the Dawnguard.' They protect their planet from invading xenos and heretics with a ferocity unmatched, for without the influence of the hive mind, the only thing left is an all-consuming will to live, and even within the Imperium's galactic eastern outskirts, well... in farming the others lies the most secure path for the Brood, and perhaps the people of Arakaea as well, in the minds of those with enough human blood to require such justification.
I suddenly and abruptly feel the need to assemble a shelf full of examples of the concept.
