Today I review the Kast King Kestrel spinning reel. The baitcast brother of these reel is the KastKing BFS Casting reel, both reels are well thought out and put together. This is not a bad reel. But only time will tell about the reliability of this product.

Nice video bud. Iv got this reel, was just wondering if you find it hard to wind when it's under load??? Out of the box mine felt smooth but put it under even a little pressure with say a 5g mepps and it's feels stiff to wind, put a decent fish on it and it's is very difficult to wind without pumping and winding the slack???

How is the reel holding up? I was looking to pair it up with a budget UL with a fast action for UL and Sub UL plastics.

8.75-10 because it’s butter compared to similar reels… light weight… casts well.

I agree that the kastking reels don't feel as refined. But then again most are budget reels. They usually weigh less than what is stated on the box.
My Kastking zephyr 1000 SFS only weighs 5.1 oz. The box says 5.3 oz.
Shimano and daiwa tend to under weigh their reels. They are usually alittle heavier than stated.

Hmmmm, I see there is a 1000 size black/orange Zephyr that I thought was 4.6oz also and cheaper. Do you know the diff?

I paid 41bucks for it. It is reasonable one for its price.
