Thank you for the response. I do like Matlock's take that the multiple theories don't have to be exclusive.

After listening to him I agree that there is room for both theories to be possible without discrediting the other.

(Also my children got a kick out of you reading our question. Thank you.)

Thank you so much corie for clarifying why God might have sought to kill Moses. It makes so much sense, I always had trouble understanding that passage of Scripture.

Does this mean Levites have automatic salvation ?

I don't think Moses did something wrong by killing the Egyptian. If he did then what other ways would he have stopped the Egyptian (who knows, he was probably beating the Hebrew to death)? Besides during Stephen's stoning, he mentions Moses and suggests that what he did was right. I believe Stephen says so because (to my knowledge) there are no other verses where he mentions the "sins" of the people, only righteous acts so in context Moses did the right thing.
