SICILY IS UNDERRATED! Cefalù is a 2022 MUST-VISIT (Sicily Road Trip Pt 1)

Why do most tourists to Italy NOT visit Sicily? Everyone’s heard of Italy’s largest island, but it wasn’t until we visited Sicily ourselves (and read the tourist stats) that we realized how unpopular it is as a tourist destination compared to Italy’s other regions.

In fact, almost 80% of Italy’s tourists visit its top 9 regions, which do not include Sicily. To be fair, I don’t think we could have named one Sicilian city without first looking at a map. And, it took us four trips to Italy until we visited Southern Italy!

Well, today all of that changes! We’re FINALLY kicking off our Sicily road trip in the charming town of Cefalù, which totally surprised us! This town has everything you could ask for in a perfect getaway destination - beautiful beaches on the Mediterranean Sea, ancient history including temples and a castle, beautiful architecture, delicious Sicilian food, and great hiking!

This is about my home town :-) Thank you for showing how beautiful it is. I am not an expert about the history of my town but I think the information is pretty accurate, and yes, summer is not the only time of the year when you can come and enjoy the town. I loved the video

I have travelled to many countries including Sicily. Sicily is my favourite. Incredible history, incredible scenery, and incredible people. If you've never been, I highly recommend it.

Great video! Cefalù is absolutely beautiful, at all times of the year.. personally I prefer summer but the small main beaches become very crowded. Other less crowded beaches can be found nearby. Be sure to reserve for lunch if you want to go to a specific spot. Enjoy!

And the center of Sicily is even more underrated. You can ski in winter on the Madonie. In Caltanissetta during the Holy week there is so much to see etc ...in any case thank you for your appreciation for my land, greetings

Thanks for sharing. It reminds me when my rental car got stuck there in 2010 and paid 350 Euro to get back to the Sigonella Navy Base. After retiring from US 🇺🇸 Army at age 41 in 2011, I wanted to relax so I started cruising. I just recently completed 9-consecutive cruises bringing my total to 39-cruises with almost 350-sea days.

Now, I'm planning the extreme opposite to travel cheap and collect Countries to add to my over 30-Countries. Now, living somewhat frugal lifestyle in the Philippines 🇵🇭 and go back to San Antonio, Texas to visit families and friends and renew my auto registration. Stay safe y'all!
