Three boys have died after being pulled from a lake at a nature park in Solihull, West Midlands Police said.

The boys, aged eight, 10 and 11, were taken to hospital after suffering cardiac arrest having fallen through ice at Babbs Mill Park, in Kingshurst, on Sunday.

A fourth boy, aged six, remains in a critical condition in hospital while officers continue to search the lake to establish whether anyone else fell into the water.

This is devastating and upsetting. I hope the parents can get through this horrible time. If you have children, make sure you tell them how much you love them and try to teach them the dangers inherent in the environment that they may encounter in the future.

Passers-by and the emergency services threw everything they had at this. Sadly the outcome is what it is. Great credit to those who didn’t hold back.

It’s absolutely tragic, but where were the responsible adults? Far too young to be allowed near a lake on their own

I would like to say well done to the response by the police, ambulance, firebrigade and all including the updates from Evening standard.

Need to make children aware of these things, especially if you live near lakes

Rest in peace angel boys, a prayer for them, their families, friends and the fourth member of the friendship group ; praying for a miracle recovery and that his friends will forever live on through him.
You will never be forgotten ❤

This is so tragic and emphasis needs to be placed on education around ice. In Finland children know how to interpret the ice. They are taught from a very young age. In UK it is just not cold enough for long enough for ice to be saef to bear weight.
My heart goes out to the parents and family of these poor boys

It's heartbreaking to think about having to go through the presents you bought your child who is no longer there. Devastating.

A 6 year old has just died too as we all know and this isn't getting reported on YouTube. What the hell is going on? A whole bunch of unsupervised kids on an ice lake? What on earth is going on? This is suicidal behaviour. Do you expect everyone to believe that responsible parents had pre-warned their kids not to go on the ice lake but ALL the kids just said; oh, what the heck we'll do it anyway? This is disgusting 🤦😖 The British culture; fish and chips/burgers/roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, the F word and only decorating the streets with beautiful flowers and teddies after people get killed. DISGUSTING!!! They were probably all on the ice because there was nothing else to do and nothing for them. If your council made the streets look nice and also had warning signs by the lake this wouldn't happen. UNBELIEVABLY SAD😖🤦

Bring back hard hitting public information films. There's a reason we still remember them all from the 70s and 80s.

Where were the parents? This happens every year, lakes and ponds don't freeze hard enough to go on. If your children are not aware of that, why have they been allowed to go out unattended and unsupervised? Just is a tragic waste of life, could so easily been avoided.

I was always accused of being an over protective parent. Explained all possible dangers before my children went to play with friends. Thankfully mine have currently made it to 13 and 16.. this stuff is always terrible to hear. Never let anyone tell you you're over protective. At a guess, one probably had the idea to walk out / go near the water. Probably watching American movies where they skate on the ice. Who knows. But this should never happen to any parent. Please keep your children wise and safe.

Like all of us when we were that age group. We was living our childhood, adventure is what we did. We explored whilst having fun, we didn't really understand the hidden dangers of many adventures. We all did things our parents had no clue about. It's not the parents fault, it's kids being kids. This terrible tragedy for all those involved has now changed their life's for ever. I couldn't imagine what pain and grief they are all suffering. Sincere heartfelt to all those involved in this utter tragic heartbreaking accident.
