That bed is older than the discovery of bedbugs themselves

Prevention/Rid solution:

1. ASAP jump into action, even if you think it is another bug. DO NOT DELAY ATTACK
2. Weapons:
steamer 175 degree and higher
Rubbing Alcohol 90% and higher
Food grade Diatomaceous earth (please wear mask, DE duster optional)
Blood orange essential oil
Misting spray bottle
Diffuser
3. Steps:
a. Wash bedding/clothes in HOT water or steam wash setting. Dry in high heat
b. Steam every nook and cranny of mattress and bed frame, furniture etc
c. Spray with 90% rubbing alcohol
d. Mist spray with blood orange essential oil
e. Run diffuser with blood orange essential oil
f. Vacumm
g. Spread a dust of Diatomaceous earth around the legs of the bed and floor. The bed or frame should not touch the wall or other furniture. Bedding should not touch the floor
4. This procedure should be done daily to all areas of the house if you have a bug problem.
Any item that cannot be treated with heat, can be place in the freezer for 3 days.
This procedure is organic,
effective, low cost and easier than most.

Getting rid of the whole mattress and box spring is so much better to keep them gone

You have to use your brain. You need to hit the furniture with steam before you even move it because if you tilt it upright it will disturb bugs that will scurry everywhere and eggs will fall off. And if you want to dispose of it you need to get that mattress base in a large thick mattress bag to completely seal the bed bugs inside before you remove it from your flat. Otherwise you are sprinkling bed bug stardust from your flat to the front door

2. Diatomaceous Earth will get rid of bed bugs.

Throw it away. Steam treating it is silly at that point. You will miss a few eggs….and they come back!

I have never had to deal with this but it’s sad and I’m sure it’s very frustrating not everybody has a major set of all the furniture away and start over there doing what they think they can do at least they’re doing something I’ve seen some Of those infestation shows are off the chart

Are you really using such a low amount of steam to expect to rid the bedbugs of that mattress? It absolutely will not do anything. If you want to go the steam route it needs to come out faster and be more contained. By the time that small stream of steam hits the bedding it already cooled down somewhat. You would have to go over the same area over and over and over again to try and see any real result. It’s pointless unless you have industrial equipment and seal off that room or the very least seal off the bed and then apply the steam so it stays contained in the bag to increase the heat. If this was maybe a small stuffed animal it could work. Otherwise a waste of your time. Thats why those large tubing ducts are used for these type situations to send in heat and steam at an appropriate temperature so to terminate the bugs once and for all without wasting time.

Not enough steam. Going just a little to fast. I would still use sprays and diatomaceous earth powder or better is Cimexa dust powder, repeatedly, till their gone.
