This is a real thing in a lot of different fields. Sword dueling for instance dueling a complete amateur is more dangerous than dueling a subpar person who knows what they are doing since you can’t predict how they will respond to what you do. for instance if you feinted an attack and expected them to defend they might just stab you instead since they didn’t even realize you threatening them.

In WW1 dueling was still fairly common in some European country’s but not in England, and many experienced duelists got killed in duels by Englishmen who would just run up and stab them.

I love playing against heavy dribblers like this because its so obvious they want you to commit to something, but when you just focus on where the ball is they completely crumble
Edit: i'm talking about school football, not top level play. I'm talking about the kids that think they're hot stuff cause they can dribble a bit, intermediate play at best.

its like this in basket ball too, lotta people who dribble with so much movement tend to have too much focus on the ball and not their opponents hands

One of the reasons why is because when you dribble against real defenders, you expect them to move so you could use that leftover space to operate. And with the body movements you perform on them, they will most likely respond to prevent you from dribbling past, possibly making an error in the process. But with non-football players they don't understand the game entirely, let alone skills, game IQ or ways of dispossessing the attacker. They just do what they think is plausible. Therefore when you make a move trying to get them to respond, they don't understand it as much as threat.
