Armin van Buuren finally unleashes his new artist album ‘BALANCE’. As stated by Armin van Buuren, the album is about thinking in possibilities rather than definition, thinking about what music could be instead of what it should be. “Every song I make teaches me something new, and the next song is always a result of all my previous records, the new things I learned and the people I met”, the world-renowned DJ and producer says in the foreword of his album. “Over the years, this process - and especially the fun of creating - became more and more important to me. It’s a journey that gives me meaning and helps me learn more about my personal interests rather than focus on the recognition I get for the outcome. That’s the big difference between who I am today and who I was a few years ago. 'BALANCE' is a new chapter in my book of life, the result of venturing into known and unknown territories while finding the balance in between. This creative journey gives me the energy to do what I do, to keep going. I don’t want to think about what music should be. I want to think about what music could be."

All tracks are my babies, but some tracks I just have more of a connection with, simply because of the time I spent on it or the emotion attached to it. In this case, Wild Wild Son is about Sam Martin’s (then unborn) son. I fell so much in love with 'Wild Wild Son' because I recognize the love I feel for my own son! Because I am adopted, when we had our son 11 years ago, he was the first person related to me by blood I had ever laid my eyes on. It was the most incredible thing that has ever happened to me. Maybe thats only a big thing in the Netherlands (where I live), but I wonder how many parents (especially dads) have learnt their kids to ride a bike without help and feeling the happyness of their kids and afterwards realising that it was a step towards their kids growing up and becoming more and more independent.
I bet my father did that some twelve odd years ago. It must be a bittersweet sadness that you as a parent know that your children inevitably are going to leave and build a life of their own.
I will remember this song if the time comes and it's my turn to learn my child to ride a bike alone.
