And If you need it to go all the way down 🤔

The nyloc should be tightened right down to the piece you want to fix down as the nylon squeezes between threads and gives the added friction. The bolt end should protrude slightly beyond the nyloc. In this demo example the bolt is far too long. They can be removed but cannot be reused as the nylon inserted will have been destroyed. They are not suitable for situations where a fastening maybe subject to heat as the nylon will melt and lose strength.

I am a big fan of these nuts and have used them for 45+ years so imagine my surprise when I found two of them loose on my motor mower's front wheels after 11 or 12 years. I thought the bearings had failed and I was going to replace them. Went to take the wheel off to get the bearing number and the nut came off after two turns. Retightened them both and all was good and I didn't need to replace the bearings. Now I just need to remember to check them and see if they are still tight.

So no one can answer if you can screw farther down?

I bought a yard wagon and it uses these nylon nuts and they absolutely will not screw any tighter so the whole frame remains loose, this goes for all 8 of these nylon nuts and makes no sense to me.
