WD-40 doesn't work as a mist or in small amounts. That's why it has the long red straw, so you can douse the specific spot. If you hold it super close and give 6 sprays it might work (if it truly is WD-40)

Fun fact wd-40 isn’t a lubricant, it just removes the moisture. Wd-40: water displacement formula 40. Also Vegetable oil works great for squeaking hinges
