There’s no question that minivans offer the best combination of passenger and cargo space in the smallest package, but which minivan is the best in the segment?

Although the Chrysler Pacifica has been out for over a year now, people are still shocked by how big a leap it made from the Town & Country it replaced, becoming a luxurious option brimming with technology.

However, new minivans don’t come along every day, so we had to wait for a worthy competitor before we threw it into a comparison.

Well, that competitor has arrived, as Honda launched an entirely redesigned Odyssey this year, and it introduces a whole new infotainment system to go along with their usual refined, efficient drive and practical interior.

20, 000 miles on our early built 2017 Pacifica Limited. It’s been a very solid and reliable vehicle so far. Before that we had a 2015 Odyssey Touring...also a good vehicle, but the Pacifica Limited offered much more. As for the new Odyssey, I like it, but I still feel it falls short to the Pacifica for tech and interior. Reliability, well I’m not gonna argue Honda’s reliability, but so far our Pacifica’s been great. Tri-pane pano roof, 20spkr HK audio, full range adaptive cruise, LED interior lighting, dual blu-ray screens....stuff like that ain’t gonna happen on the Odyssey.

I love how he is comparing a 2017 Pacifica and 2018 Odyssey. A whole lot changes in a year of a production car. I personally have owned two town and countries and one Pacifica and right now I'm driving my brothers 2017 Odyssey, for over two months. I am not going to bash the Honda, but if you want comfort and just that cool factor, I'll tell you that you wont get that from the Honda. It's a fantastically put together car and it does everything that it says it does. and it does it well, but when you buy a car for that much money you want something else that functionality cant buy. You sit higher int he Pacifica, you have more space, the front seats are so much more comfortable, the arm rest is just right, the leg room is better, the trim looks nicer, the cabin is so much more quieter, the stereo is louder, the bass is more thumpy, the ride is 100 times more comfortable and there so much more that you cant understand unless you owned both. It feels more like a car rather then a tin can. I don't know how else to put it. Its just so different to drive and be in. You really need to check it out, or just drive it and you''ll see what I mean.

that moment when, these vans are both faster than your 2013-2017 honda acoord/coupe v6.

I love the inside part of the Pacifica better. The rear seats, storage space is so much better than the odyssey.

Thank you for putting the Canadian as tested prices as well! That’s actually a huge help (since often the pricing in Canada isn’t just an exchange rate difference that would be easily calculated). Iwish all reviews did that.

I have a 2018 Pacifica Limited and love it! It looks and feels much better inside than the odessey and I think it's more practical.

I guess your video editor fell asleep at 3:45. The vehicle in the shot : Chrysler Pacifica
Name given : 2018 Honda Odyssey.
Awesome! 😂😂

I would like to see this guy making the same comparison after 5 years of use. Reliability is the number one thing that someone should buy a Honda. To me it’s very annoying to go to mechanic to fix stuff even if it’s under warranty. Who has time for that ?

I don't know how you're coming up with 20mpg on the fuel economy in the Pacifica. I have the exact same vehicle/model and I regularly see 28mpg.

Our Pacifica is too low to the ground. In 6 months of ownership, we had to repair/replace 2 bumpers and these computerized air shutters that break off when you scrape the front bumper. Cost us over $2000.00 to fix both times. This last time the shutter thing rubbed through the air conditioning condensor-we have no air conditioning. Don't buy if you live in a hilly area! Or get a lift kit for it!

Carcomplaints.com has hundreds of complains and recall notices on the Pacifica.

I’ll take Honda reliability.

You lease a Pacific & buy an Odyssey. In the states a Pacific Plug In Hybrid is much cheaper if you make enough to milk the full Federal Tax Credit + any state incentives.

Since families buy minivans, giving more credence to the stow and fold seats is pretty ignorant. Why? Because you will never fold your second row into the floor. Plus, those seats are not comfortable for adults on a long road trip. They are very thin given that they have to stow into the floor. And the most important test for most buyers is how easy is it to configure multiple car seats/booster seats in the car. Almost endless possibilities in the Odyssey where it's a pain in the Pacifica to have multiple options to configure the seats, but also just installing them. lastly, the Odyssey gives you an actual middle seat in the second row a grown adult can fit in.

In Ontario if you get the Pacifica plug in, you get a huge government incentive which brings he cost lower than even the odyssey. The plug ins come fully loaded. I’d go Pacifica

my parents own the Honda Odyssey and it has been a enjoyable ride for all of us and it is even better with all the upgrades we put in it.

The odyssey is a great van but the screens in the back for passengers in the Pacifica is a great idea to keep people entertained while on long trips

Pacifica sounds nicely optioned and even has a better looking front end, in my humble opinion. But Honda is proven reliability. Pacifica at your own risk.

I like the Pacifica better but the Odyssey is better for resale and reliability. Also Chrysler should have kept Town & Country name.
