I think traveling abroad to even some non black developing countries might help you to get a better world view as a Black American. We get so fixated on our history that we become stuck. Black culture in the USA is extremely divisive and it’s sad. When you cherry pick interviews and points you miss out the full picture. Burna is one of the most successful Nigerian artists because of how he seamlessly blends the cultures that have influenced him into his music. His biggest hits have been primarily Afro beat based. He didn’t blown up off any freestyles or raps he did back in the day. When you have views like this they can be really dangerous. If you can’t see yourself in black Africans that’s a sign you still don’t understand a black person and the richness of black culture.


When Steve Talks about going to Africa I’ve been there and it was eye opening. To go from country to country and see ancient traditions that we just think is black American culture because we forgotten our origins and tying them back together was a profound experience
