Dear Peter, 2 examples built (one crashed) test pilots recommended the tail/rudders be shortened by 1 foot for stability issues and both did NOT have the underwing chaff/flare dispensers for those who want an accurate kit. Loved the review and have since built the kit, yes the glass is great ! Keep up the great work. Dane

Just started one of these, indeed instructions aren't great, but not too hard to follow. Some colour callouts are the worst aspect, guess and hope for some but there's plenty on youtube to help- please note the fuselage colour in is Olive green in the kit but grey is do-able. Overall a great kit, very well detailed and mostly fits really well. 1st A-10 I attempted was an old AMT/ERTL kit- simply awful in comparison.

There was only one of that variant, and it is (I think) a museum piece at Edwards AFB Flight Test Museum...
I have the A-10A kit and it is a very good one, depicting a post Gulf War A-10.
To do a current A-10C one would mainly need to source modern weapons for it..and some cockpit mods.
The kit is a very, very good one and well worth having.
The USAF has never liked the A-10 or its' mission.
My suggestion is to transfer the aircraft to the U.S.Army and let 20 year old warrant officer pilots fly them!
And you are correct on the date of the kit. Mine was obtained at that time by trading some investigative work for it!
Another great review, Peter.

Hi, Peter.
Sorry I missed the live review. Was on nights, (Graveyard Shift).
Superb review as usual. The instructions are awful, aka Chinese logic!
Much appreciate you taking the time to review the kit and providing a very interesting background to the variant. Info I didn’t know about. The engines are General Electric, none afterburner obviously.
The kit’s yours to do what you want with, a thank you for all the invaluable vids you do, all at your own expense. You’ve no Patreon account for us to subscribe to, so donating a kit instead of cash is the next best thing. Again many thanks for your time in filming and editing these brilliant and honest reviews.

The 2 seater version of the A-10 has a similar look to the 2 seater TA-4F/J/K Skyhawks, it totally changes the profile of the aircraft.

For you some additional information on the GUA8. The ammo is not depleted uranium, but tungsten and APDS (Armour Piercing Discarding Sabot). So the actual ammo is a 20mm tungsten bullet round a 10mm taken by the sabot. So it gets high kinetic energy as the charge is for a 30mm shot behind a 20mm round. And that with a firing rate of 4200 shots per minute. The Goalkeerper CIWS system (as placed on HMS Illoustrious) uses the same gun to shoot down incoming sea skimming missiles, like the Exocet. The Falkland crisis in 1982 actually speeded up the development of that system.

I noticed a nasty spelling mistake on decals 15 and 18 on the first sheet: 'Pull mandel out 6 feet' instead of 'Pull handle out 6 feet'. Quite sloppy, but aftermarket decals can fortunately fix that.

Just built this, it's not a very good fit on the engines if you have then closed but over all not a bad kit

This instruction sheet is one of the most confusing ones I have ever seen, with numbers all over the place and different parts of the assembly all flowing into one another! A kit this size and of this quality deserves better!

I know this is 2 years later. My local hobby shop sells this. I’m relatively new to scale models (build 12 of them with a year of work) I don’t have an airbrush. I do have lots of time to put it together and don’t need a quick slap together model

Should I get this? Or are there any other kits you recommend

A "tank buster"? A ha ha ha ha ha! Only if the tank is from thd 1950s. The A-10 is responsible for more blue-on-blue killings than any other aircraft.
