Dude... Thank you so god damned much. I read through the damn manual and couldn't figure it out. (This still applies to a 2021 CX-5, for those wondering)

We got the hatch open ONCE by accident while in park and couldn't figure out what we did differently. Thanks so much for this info!!

You need to put it in park, set parking brake on, rub the steering wheel 3 times to the right, then rub it again 3 times to the left. Open the driver’s door, get out and dance clockwise around the car 4 times, then counter clockwise 4 times, get back in, shut the door, put the seatbelt on, lock and unlock the doors 10 times, say your favourite prayer and then hit the tailgate button and pray that it works. I was ready to punch that button into oblivion. Got a ‘20 cx30 and the stupid tailgate would’nt open on more then one occasion already. So annoying.

I just bought a 2016 CX-5 Grand Touring and it doesn't have the latch button you're pressing. Do you know if there are any other methods I can use?

This is the only thing WRONG with my mazda is the hatch hates to open when i need it to! I'll give this a try thank you❤

How come we can't open the tail gate while the car is running ??? ... also when my car is on and I get out even with the key fob I can't unlock the doors to open the passenger door I have to walk back to the driver door and press unlock
