Devilman is a class anime and manga that deserves more attention due to the mangaka, Go Nagai's absolute genius. Despite being 50 years old, Devilman's themes and story are more impactful now than ever before.

Thanks for watching this video, it was a last minute addition to our schedule and Mike had to record the whole thing under a blanket into his phone in order to get it out on time! So forgive the audio quality on this one, we'll be back to our regular setup for the next video! Hope you enjoyed the video and it made you think, we'll see you in the next one!

I think the core message of the show isn’t really to look at humanity as a whole, but rather to look at yourself and your own actions cuz it’s easy to point the finger and call others demons.

I just want to say that the fact that devil man is as old as it is and still extremely relevant to the current time and arguably more so now than it was when it was created is fucking sad and pathetic for the human race

Go Nagai called out so much of our modern day problems, including the part where people can turn on each other when motivated by mobs who claim to be virtuous but their actions are anything but virtue.

I saw your other Devilman videos. You really nailed the themes of the series. Seeing how fear and hate spread like a virus was mind-blowing. That everything was just part of a larger cycle hit harder. Thanks for your hard work.

I remember Go Nagi made a letter basically saying Devilman has a sad ending because it’s a warning for us to make better choices now before it’s too late.

I keep seeing people say “I give up on humanity” or something along the lines of humanity is doomed. Yet it took a devil with the soul of a human to give me faith that things can be better for humanity.

Silly to think of? Yah, but what’s the alternative?

Devilman is pretty up there in the pieces of media I would recommend, sadly people go by looks and turn away from violence and miss out on the development of the characters and the insanity that envelopes the world.

When I saw Crybaby all the way to the end I just didn't expect to end that way, what I had no idea is that it's close to the original manga (besides adapting the story to current technology.)

It's definitely easy to lose one's faith in humanity. I've lost mine several times. My friends always remind me that it isn't all humans, though. And despite everything, I really do think most humans default naturally to empathy for others--something that research has found in the youngest of children who haven't had a chance to learn anything yet. And it makes sense, because working together is how we've survived for so long as a species. A lot of people have just been conditioned away from this by people who crave power--people who, a couple of hundred thousand years ago, would have been kept in check by the group not putting up with their selfishness. Somewhere along the line it was decided that some people were better than others and thus deserved more, and things won't get better until we realize what a load of BS that is.

I've been all about Devilman lately since I finally watched Crybaby a couple months ago, and this video absolutely captures the most important parts of Devilman and Nagai's ideas, especially about media manipulation and our modern crises. However, what hit me the most was the moment where the kids run to Akira and he forgives the mob one by one. It feels good to be reminded that we can still choose to be good to each other. Even though humanity is all gone at the end of this story, humanity prevails in Akira and Ryo when Ryo finally experiences empathy. Fantastic video, as usual.

The main lesson I got from Devilman Crybaby is "if you think violence and war are the only way to get what you want then what will you have when it's over when all the fighting done and your the only one left what was the point, and the ending confirms this because if you think that just like Satan you'll just be alone and that is a fate worse then Death"

Well, this video definitely hits the nail on the head. Greed and hatred will destroy us if we allow it.

I remember binging this on Netflix when it first dropped.

Truly a masterpiece in every regard. That being said the message itself is not only timeless but resonates with every age / race.

We are all devil men at one point or another.

This pretty much encapsulates way I've loved devilman so much as a series for so long. It's ridiculously relevant no matter how much time passes. Which is honestly kind of depressing as hell. Shit gets more real every day and I just feel like we're plummeting towards the end of things. Yet consuming it offers me relief in some way. Like I'm not going crazy, I'm not the only one who sees everything going to shit. It gives me a truth in fiction that just scratches a particular itch I guess.

A Devilman video is exactly what I didn't need during this existential crisis I've been in the middle of for the last month, no matter how good the video is.

I watched the newer series on Netflix a few years ago and it left me bawling my eyes out for about an hour. There was something about the ending, the heedless division of the general populace in the show that just kind of broke my heart.

Devilman's epic ending is what End of Evangelion tried to achieve but failed hard

Loool love this so much. Satanic Panic pt2 lets goooo
It’s significant also that Ryo being Satan, and his friendship with a genuinely pure, good person, hold a lot of religious importance and connotation.
Another incredible video 💕

What's funny is its both sides dehumanizing each other. And focusing on one is a symptom of the problem.
