I have always played keyboard and mouse so I never EVER knew you could pull back the hammer. I’ve even though it would be nice if bungie made it more realistic by having the hammer move.

The cocking of hammers back is because ALL handcannons are double action (what the hammer does when trigger is pull) meaning last word is a full auto handcannon that guardians just act like they’re fanning when using it
