This Simultaneous Equations lesson on The Equating Method was planned to come after you have already learnt to Solve Simultaneous Equations By Graphing. For this reason I start by explaining the different types of equations/graphs you might encounter from minutes 0:46 to 4:46

Graphing is not required for this lesson or exercise but you will likely be interested in this lesson as well.

* I start with a linear example to introduce the Equating Method from minutes 5:24 to 9:47
* I give a non-linear example which simplified to a linear equation from minutes 9:47 to 13:58
* My third example from 13:58 to 23:12 is one which had more than one pair of solutions as it involves solving a quadratic equation

This lesson does require previous knowledge of solving quadratics, so here are some necessary pre-requisite lessons for those who need it.

If you have already covered this topic and are just looking for some practise you may want to skip ahead to minute 23:13 where you can pause and practise before the answers are taken up at the end.
