I can remember laying in my bed at age 14-15 and listening to this Record over and over. One of their greatest pieces of work by far.
Promenade and Elvis Presley and America. Two hidden Gems indeed!!

Promenade is so simple but exemplary of U2's power in setting and verse. The most powerful music does not necessarily have to be the loudest; it is often the most subtle. U2 shows its mastery of that rare skill of an artist to take the quite and simple while at the same time making it run deep.

I am with Dutch McPhisto...out of all of U2s incredible albums, Unforgettable Fire can simply wisk you away to a completely different time and space. All of these songs were so unique and creative and still hold up today...simply awesome.

This song, rainy day, lazy day, whatever...what a great song and album! I loved the mini "The Three Sunrises" sideshoot from this too... U2 does this kind of dreamy music best and it was nice to see them transition into this phase.

@kcirdrab Well said.. it's songs like this one, perhaps the "obscurity" you spoke of.. like "A Sort of Homecoming" and like "Mothers of the Disappeared" on the Joshua Tree album as well... that gave the U2 albums of this era a personal "specialness" to me.
