"Ikoro: The Burden of Abandonment" is a short documentary film that captures the plights of a marginalized community, where people live on the brink of health and death, occasioned by years of government neglect.

The documentary tells the stories of a community where people die cheaply due to the abandonment of a primary health care centre project.

In highlighting the cost of abandonment, the film also highlights other issues facing the community - lack of access road, a dilapidated primary school, both of which impacts on the economy of the people and leads to poor learning outcomes.

While the short film tells the stories of a forgotten people, it spotlights Ikoro community's health centre project, abandoned since 2014 despite contract awards and repeated budgetary allocations.

I'm moving to tears that people like my dad aren't alive to do their bit in alleviating these challenges.

The last time I was in the village, i felt very bad because I saw the state of things and unfortunately couldn't do anything to help but I believe someday this story will change for the better and the Binis will stop this unwarranted claim to this land.

Proudly Ijaw!
God bless my village, Ikoro!
