This clip completely misses the group's April/May and November 1962 stints in Hamburg, both at The Star Club. The April/May stint is important because Stu Sutcliffe passed away three days before that residency began, while they opened for Little Richard during the November run.

I'd love to hear more about what got them kicked from the first club...

Some of these pictures are brand new to me, 3:50 Paul has his bass already while Stu is still in the band???

I miss the names of Astrid Kirchherr and Klaus Voormann in this story...

My brother was in the army in Hamburg at that time, and visited the clubs. . The thing is, he is tone deaf, and even if he had seen the Beatles, we wouldn't have remembered.

I always wondered why Pete Best never improved as much as the other Beatles

Good information and theme of one of my favorite Beatles eras...
However, I'm sorry to say the pace was way too and the bg music put me to sleep.

Watch your ai voice over... it hiccups in several spots.

Solid effort, but could be better,

Had Stu Sutcliffe not left the Beatles in 1962 and hadn't died --- would the Beatles and Epstein have kept him on when they auditioned for George Martin?

No. He was an artist( painter)..and a friend but not a musician.

The biggest group in the world... It started the whole music biz.. everything modern pop song.is post Beatles now every song has gone through the Beatles filter.. they are why there's a music biz at all.. Taylor swift?? Wouldn't be doing it in this biz had Beatles not done it first. Everything is post Beatles it's permeates everything song every musician..the Beatles raised the bar high. They wrote a song for pretty much anyone and anybody....if people don't like them.. then they just lack Melody n don't know or understand..what it means... thank you Beatles. They had catchy hooks for days... it's like they were aliens n just showed up on planet earth....like this is how it's back n watch....

Really a awesome video. I do prefer the time. Without Ringo, however. I think Ringo was not much better than Pete in reality. That is why the love me do single had a studio drummer by the name of Andy White and did not feature Ringo or Pete

Too many omissions of important dates. Too many mistakes: Indra versus Top Ten versus Kaiserkeller and when was George deported and when did he turn 18?? Check again. And terrible background muzak to boot.

Poorly written nonsense. Little to no substance . How many tautologies for “eminent rise” is necessary? Reads like a poorly written fan letter

There is a ‘t’ in the name ‘Beatles’. I know you North Americans have your lazy way of pronouncing words, but please make an effort to respect them. The only American to ever make an effort to respect the name of ‘The Beatles’ correctly was Ed Sullivan. I strongly recommend that you look at the clip of him introducing them on his show in 1964 and then you will see how to pronounce ‘The Beatles’ correctly!! Its a famous enough moment in The Beatles history that you should be aware of and learn from..!!! Set the example please and respect names that are not American..!!

Trivia question:
Which John Lennon solo LP in the 70s has an image of Paul McCartney & George Harrison on the front cover?
