We now have a winner ! Thanks for joining in everyone some great suggestions- The winner was Mick Wyatt for his idea of multi use foam twists! Good work everyone and have a happy new year.

Nice one Matt! Merry Christmas, if a bit late - I was having a leisurely coffee on Christmas morning and had just started watching this, when a loud voice from the Galley brought me to a halt "Put that away, you've got 20mins to be at Mother-in-laws to collect her for Christmas lunch". Only just got back to it! I'm trying to think what I always carry that you didn't mention.

Small plastic chopping board for bait prep - protects the knives. Small pair of split ring pliers (about £7 from eBay). Pair of long forceps hopefully enabling removal of deep hooks. Short length of rope & 1 or 2 light buckets - good for rinsing hands/fish, and the rope is for hoisting a bucket of water up, if pier or quayside fishing. Multi-tip screwdriver in casr something comes loose! Couple of bungees for strapping rods & rests to fishing cart/trolley. I bought an Olight headtorch, so always carry a couple of spare 18650 batteries in a waterproof container. Oh, and a tin of good humour pills for when the fishing doesn't go quite according to plan!

Enjoy the rest of the Christmas period, regards to you & yours, stay safe & well. Dave. 👍👍

reckon a positive attitude regards the session and a large dose of thankfulness for the opportunity to actually be fishing. Not material things but any session is doomed to failure without them. Love seeing all marks in Hastings used. Merry Christmas and tight lines for 2021 from an Ore resident

I think you just about covered all the gear we anglers need whilst enjoying our fishing. I’ve read all of my fellow anglers bits & bobs comments, so
good luck to everyone, take what you take and enjoy your fishing. Merry Christmas Matt to you & your family, thanks for a thoroughly enjoyable year of your tips, tackle and videos. Best wishes to everyone for 2021

Merry Christmas, at this time of year we all need a preist - seriously if you are going to take fish for the table, do the kind thing, something trout and salmon fishermen have always done, respect the fish and not let it flap around on the beach.

I always take a wide brim hat & polarized glasses. Not every bodies thing, but I never go fishing without my travel humidor.
Merry Christmas & a much happier new year.

I've got a small rectangular sharpening stone in with my bits. Good for sharpening up dulled hooks, knife blade & scissors. Dart sharpening stone works too. 😀👍🍀

Having buried a treble in my thumb last year and ending up at AnadE I bought some proper cutters as "cheap" side cutters won't cut a tempered hook. Was much fun having a hook in my finger and a fish thrashing about on other hook.

I always carry a chopping board and also some wet wipes unsented of course to get the smelly squid or worm juice off my hands before a cuppa and a dunking biscuit so a flask can go down as an essential in the winter too
Merry Christmas buddy

Tip lights for the dark sessions, first aid kit, bendies always come in handy, hair bands for keeping line on unused spools, waterproof note book and pencil.

All perfect and correct Matt, one thing missing a flask of hot coffee.
Very essential for the fisherman.
All the best and a merry Christmas to you and your family

I always put my reels in a cloth bag which held dry the moisture and also stops the rest of the box contents rubbing against the line and causing damage. They are simple to make if you have or know someone with a sewing machine and they also works for the spare spools and any spools of line I carry.

Looks like you’ve covered the majority of items but a few that I would add are - hand towel, finger stall and a cutting board. Enjoy the vids - good luck and tight lines 👍🏻

Hi Matt, Looks like you got nearly all covered in your box, I also have a pair of forceps for unhooking fish through the gills, also possibly a compass (mobile compass are not always accurate). If you're on a big sandbank and fog is rolling in, might come handy. A spike or clubber to dispatch fish.
