In the Orthodox Church you are allowed to eat anything that doesn't have a backbone during Lent.Crab, lobster etc etc. However in most countries these are very expensive. Greetings from Holy Russia 🇷🇺

That is true . Any cold blooded can be eaten including alligator, turtle, snake etc .

I believe there is a similar dispensation in Michigan allowing them to eat muskrat and beaver.

Bcz it swims in water. In that case that a whole new categories of animals can be eaten, including beaver. I stick to the basic poultry, lamb, fish

So, I guess all reptiles are ok to eat during Lent ? There's also snake meat and Lizzard meat and frog legs and alligator tail. It's all an acquired taste. For many, it will be a penitent meal if it's not cooked right.

I'd rather just stick with the poultry.
